Salary Range (Annual): $90-140,000

Full or Part Time FTE: 50-100%

InterPro Summary

Reporting to the Transportation and Infrastructure Team Lead, the program director will develop and deliver short courses and certificates in Civil and Environmental Engineering focused on wastewater, drinking water, stormwater, and sustainability.

The program director will be expected to seek out innovative ways to provide continuing education; conduct programs that are financially self-supporting; and develop and maintain relationships with other university departments and outside associations for the purpose of advancing knowledge and developing content. 

Expected activities include communicating with prospective students, identifying student needs, developing instructional materials, coordinating with course marketing and support staff, teaching, arranging for faculty and instructors, assessing course evaluation results, and maintaining financially self-supporting program budgets. The program director will revise existing courses and develop and launch new courses, certificates, and digital badges. The program director must be self-disciplined, motivated, and able to work independently with limited oversight.

Job Summary 

Provides classroom, online and/or laboratory instruction associated with more than one lecture or laboratory course, assists with the design and execution of administrative functions associated with academic instruction and the development of pedagogy/andragogy or assessment tools and resources to support quality student learning. Provides for-credit instruction in formats such as classroom, online and/or laboratory settings, including grading. Serves as an instructor of record.

Job Responsibilities 

25% Assists in developing techniques and/or model programs for carrying out instructional goals in disciplinary area and may help identify ways in which new techniques could be of assistance

5% Assesses learner performance and prepares reports recommending instructional improvements

20% Develops teaching techniques that enhance course effectiveness in alignment with desired outcomes and established strategy

10% Provides classroom, online and/or laboratory instruction, including grading

5% Supervises the day to day activities of work unit employees involved in instructional support as needed

25% Assists in defining the objectives of the program and plays a major role in carrying out program duties

10% Manages event and course budgets

Education 

Bachelors degree in civil engineering or related area is required

Masters degree preferred

PE License preferred

Qualifications – Minimum number of years and relevant work experience

5 years experience in a technical or engineering management role responsible for leading civil engineering projects required. The applicant must have professional knowledge and experience with the latest industry practices of wastewater, drinking water, stormwater, and sustainability.

Experience teaching, providing training, or presenting to civil and environmental professionals preferred

Experience with online learning tools and software, such as Canvas, Zoom, Microsoft Teams, and/or Webex preferred

-This is a non-tenure track position.

Requirements

Education 

Bachelors degree in civil engineering or related area is required

Masters degree preferred
