Juniata College invites applications for a tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant Professor in the Department of Environmental Science for August 2025. We are seeking a scholar with a Ph.D. in Environmental Science, Soil Science, or a related field, with expertise in soils and wetlands, and a strong background in environmental regulation and/or environmental permitting. This position is contingent upon final approval.
Responsibilities:
Develop and teach undergraduate and graduate courses in soils, environmental regulation, and related subjects. Establish a robust research program that involves undergraduate students, and the possibility of master’s students, and contributes to the field of environmental science. Engage in departmental and college-wide service activities, including curriculum development and student advising. Collaborate with local and regional organizations on environmental issues and contribute to community outreach efforts.
Job Requirements:
A Ph.D. in Environmental Science, Soil Science, or a closely related field is required.
Expertise in soils and knowledge of environmental regulation and/or environmental permitting is essential.
Demonstrated potential for excellence in teaching and research.
Commitment to fostering an inclusive academic environment and working effectively with a diverse student body.
Ability to integrate undergraduate research into teaching and mentoring.
