Job Summary
Under the direction of the Project Manager and/or Senior Project Manager, the Senior Project Engineer performs professional engineering work to achieve long-term affordable solutions for the client. Assist engineering team in application of principles, methods, and techniques of civil and environmental engineering technology.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Independently perform professional engineering work in own specialty on a variety of assigned tasks, which regularly have uncommon and/or complex features.
- Perform project management tasks on one or two projects.
- Participate collaboratively and assists in the direction of the team regarding project assignments.
- Supervise and direct junior staff.
- Direct technicians, and RPRs in coordination with Project Manager.
- Communicate with regulatory and client officials in coordination with Project Manager.
- Represent the Company at conferences and trade shows.
- Communicate directly with the client during the design phase and RPR and contractor during the construction phase.
- Participate in preparing project proposals and contracts.
- Develop solutions to complex engineering problems.
- Prepare basis of design information and evaluate equipment proposals.
- Prepare technical memorandums and reports.
- Reviews opinions of cost prepared by others.
- Perform and document advanced design computations and check computations by others.
- Prepare markups and check completed work of drafting personnel.
- Prepare contract drawings and specifications.
- Present project information to the client, regulatory officials and the public.
- Review permit applications that are prepared by others.
- Review reports and design phase documents for QA/QC.
- Obtain required regulatory agency approvals.
- Review addendums, bid tabulations, contractor references, and insurance/bid that are completed by others.
- Participate in preparing proposals.
- Develop and advance conceptual, preliminary, and final designs.
- Assist with preparing project scopes, budgets, and schedules for assignments.
- Track project budgets and prepare funding disbursement requests.
- Create construction documents including change orders and review of Request For Information (RFIs) as directed by the Project Manager.
- Perform construction site visits to observe conformance to design specifications.
- Perform startup services for all projects.
- Prepare construction meeting agendas and facilitate/assist construction progress meetings.
- Review QA/QC results during construction and resolve construction issues.
- Review Operation & Maintenance manuals that are prepared by others.
- Additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications Requirements
- Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree in engineering.
- Six years of engineering experience.
- Possess effective oral and written communication skills.
- Must have working knowledge of Microsoft Office products.
- Must be proficient with and/or be able to learn specific engineering design/modeling software in area of specialty.
- Familiar with pertinent civil and environmental engineering aspects.
- Desire to stay current with changing technology and material.
- Participate collaboratively with the team regarding project assignments.
- Capable of leading medium to large projects with the ability to work on multiple projects concurrently.
- Experience with Bluebeam preferred, not required.
- Valid Professional Engineer license in the State employed.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Travel Required.
- 10 Hour OSHA Training Certificate.
