Under limited direction from the Chief Environmental Performance Officer and in close collaboration with the Wastewater Utility Superintendent, the Process Manager is responsible for monitoring and improving process performance to ensure compliant and efficient operation of AlexRenew’s Water Resource Recovery Facility (WRRF) and associated pumping stations.  The Process Manager supervises a Process Analyst and works closely with Operations, Maintenance and Laboratory staff to ensure optimal process, energy management and WRRF system performance.  They also closely follow industry trends, research and development in the areas of wastewater treatment, resuse, biosolids, energy management and resource recovery.  The Process Manager leads wastewater treatment process management through influence and via collaboration with the Wastewater Utility Superintendent and their team by training, coaching and developing Operations, Maintenance and Laboratory staff. 

Essential Duties & Responsibilities: 

• Performs in-depth technical monitoring support, statistical analysis, planning, optimization, and new technology assessment related to wastewater processing and biosolids treatment and reuse.

• Develops long-term and seasonal process perspective to ensure optimization and efficiencies in treatment and energy are sustained. Communicates process outcomes to the rest of the organization.

• Provides recommendations and guidance for daily, weekly, monthly, seasonal and annual operating parameters for the overall wastewater treatment system and individual unit processes based on detailed data analytics from OP10, SCADA, the Laboratory and input from the Operations team.
• Assists and supports the Wastewater Utility Superintendent in establishing and achieving workgroup goals to include monthly budget targets and process performance measures.
• Coordinates AlexRenew’s engagement in industry-research.  Supports AlexRenew process innovation initiatives within Wastewater Utility Operations and Maintenance and communicates those innovations to stakeholders.
• Troubleshoots and evaluates operational issues, provides technical recommendations and directs effective corrective actions including high-priority corrective maintenance on equipment critical to WRRF permit compliance.
• Provides process perspective and reviews and comments on engineering projects specifications, design plans, and construction schedules. Serves as operations and process liaison to project teams, as required.
• Reviews and analyzes process and instrumentation data to determine the correct action to ensure process optimization.
• Coordinates with the Compliance Coordinator to ensure VPDES permit compliance and achievement of Environmental Management System goals.
• Trains and develops staff in process and energy control. Champions the professional development of direct reports and the Apprentices by fostering a continuous learning environment. 
• Complies with, enforces, and recommends improvements to policies and procedures to ensure superior plant safety and employee performance.   Supports and champions AlexRenew Safety Program, Environmental Management System, and Human Resource policies.
• Establishes individual staff goals and evaluates and documents performance.
• Collaborates with other workgroups to support an exceptional Asset Management program.
• Maintains professional and technical knowledge.
