Salary: $86,840 Annually, negotiable depending on qualifications

Hours: 7:30 A.M. to 4:30 P.M., Monday – Friday; occasional evenings and holidays may be required to complete projects or during emergencies.

Performs a wide variety of professional and administrative engineering duties associated with Palm Beach County (PBC) water/wastewater public utility systems. In particular, responsible for the review and approval of water, wastewater and reclaimed water utility projects submitted by consultants, developers and in-house design staff. Plans, coordinates, and approves the work of plan review staff, consultants and contractors ensuring adherence to County design and as-built standards. Responsible for permitting and coordination of projects with Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT), County Roadway/Engineering, Lake Worth Drainage District (LWDD), and other municipalities and special districts.

Licensed as a Professional Engineer (P.E.) in the State of Florida or Bachelor’s Degree in Civil/Mechanical/Environmental Engineering or related Water/Utility Systems Engineering field; minimum of five (5) years of experience in professional civil engineering in consulting, local government or regulatory agencies related to the design or permitting of water and wastewater utility systems including one (1) year of experience in the supervisory aspects of the work. Equivalency: Related Master’s Degree and four (4) years of related experience including one (1) year of experience in the supervisory aspects of the work.
Necessary Special Requirement: Licensed as a P.E. in the State of FL or Licensed as a P.E. in another State and ability to obtain State of FL P.E. licensure within 11 months of hire.
PREFERENCE FOR EXPERIENCE: In civil engineering construction contract development/administration; working as a P.E. for/on behalf of a governmental entity (must specify on application); permitting/coordinating projects with PBC/FDOT/LWDD; ensuring civil engineering project permitting compliance with Federal/State/local standards and regulations. Also desirable: Certification as a Project Management Professional.
