Metropolitan Council Environmental Services (MCES) is an operating division of the Metropolitan Council. MCES operates and maintains the wastewater collection and treatment system for the Minneapolis-St. Paul seven-county metropolitan area, which includes approximately 600 miles of regional sanitary sewers and eight regional wastewater treatment plants. MCES treats an average of 250 million gallons of wastewater daily, providing cost-effective service to more than 2.6 million people in 109 customer communities. This position will lead and manage the development and implementation of an Environmental Services wastewater facility commissioning program for wastewater treatment plants and interceptor capital projects to ensure that the projects meet contract requirements and the business needs of operations and maintenance. The person in this role should have experience with operation and commissioning of various wastewater treatment plant systems. They should have a strong resilience in navigating through issues and problems that may arise due to new or unforeseeable situations and enjoy field service work.
Salary: $81,785 - $116,001 Annually
Bachelor's Degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Chemistry, Biology or a related field AND six (6) years of experience working with the design, construction and/or operation of a large wastewater treatment facility or other heavy industrial facility (i.e. refineries, chemical plants), including leading the commissioning of the facility.
Master's in Science Degree with a minimum of four (4) years and more experience working with the design, construction and/or operation of a large wastewater treatment facility or other heavy industrial facility (i.e. refineries, chemical plants), including leading the commissioning of the facility.
Desired Experience, Skills and Knowledge:
Direct hands on experience in commissioning and trouble-shooting chemical, biological and mechanical wastewater treatment systems.
Experience working on wastewater projects for municipal, city, and/or state government.
Experience with Oracle's Work order and Asset Management system (WAM).
Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills. Experience serving as the liaison with clients, regulatory and/or funding agencies and others to obtain and determine project requirements and approvals.
Experience with Design-Build and/or Design-Build-Operate project delivery.
