Reporting to the Technical Director, the Technical Intern is responsible for supporting the accomplishment of objectives and goals of the Hydraulic Institute by working with the standards writing committees. The incumbent facilitates the development of standards and guidelines, supports the creation of educational products, and responds to technical issues as assigned by the Technical Affairs Director.
Review and edit standards and guidelines developed by technical committees as they progress from committee draft stage through publication, in accordance with the HI Policy and Procedures, Bylaws, and HI Style Guidelines.
Provide technical and administrative support relative to international standards development.
Support Technical Director in responding to technical inquiries and questions
Provide technical guidance and administrative support to other staff members as needed
Support in development of technical articles
Support social media projects
Perform other duties, as assigned
Skills and Qualifications:
Working toward BS Degree in Mechanical Engineering or recent graduate with BS Degree in Mechanical Engineering
Computer expertise focused on MS Office Products, Project Management, & HTML
Excellent verbal and written communication skills and interpersonal skills are required
Eager to respond to customer service and order inquiries in an enthusiastic fashion
Students working on Co-op programs are also welcomed
Volunteer leadership experience (e.g. ASME student chapter) is a plus
Prior customer service or association experience helpful but not required
Interpretation of statistics and ability to develop reports based on interpretation
