Redlands is a city in the heart of the Inland Empire, in San Bernardino County. The Utilities Operations Manager supervises, plans, and coordinates the activities, operations, maintenance, and regulatory compliance of the City’s water production, treatment and laboratory analysis, storage and distribution, water quality, wastewater collection, plant maintenance and related facilities. This position oversees the day to day operations, provides regular reporting for management and city council, and works closely with regulatory agencies.
The ideal candidate will be an ethical, personable leader and effective team-builder with strong managerial skills and customer service orientation. Effective communication and interpersonal skills are required to collaborate and engage with staff, executive leadership, regulatory agencies and other key stakeholders, as well as the general public. The successful candidates will possess a proven track record implementing and completing projects and creating a structured, high-performing, and team-oriented working environment. The ideal candidate will be a seasoned professional with solid technical and leadership acumen, ensuring best practices in providing excellent water and waste water services for the City. Past work experience within a public-sector organization is preferred. A Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in chemistry, biology, civil engineering, or a related field AND six (6) years of increasingly responsible experience (two  years plus in a supervisory capacity) in the management of water and/or wastewater operations, maintenance, and regulatory compliance of municipal utility systems is required. Certification in water distribution, treatment, and/or wastewater is desirable. Experience working successfully with employee associations or unions is desirable.
