The District is seeking an individual to fill a position within the Engineering Department - Design Division. This Project Manager position in the Capital Projects group will be responsible for coordinating the work of outside consulting firms. Duties will include, but not necessarily be limited to oversight of the design of storm, sanitary/combined sewers, and green infrastructure improvements; review plans, specifications and cost estimates; address concerns of impacted property owners; participation in meetings with public officials and the public at large to answer questions about the construction project; and other matters associated with the successful completion of the District's capital construction program.
Examples of Duties:
Essential Functions:Review the plan review work of lower level engineers; review more complex plans such as for complex storm water drainage problems, design or oversee design of storm and sanitary sewer lines and lift stations and small wastewater treatment plants; prepare or oversee preparation of cost estimates and specifications; evaluate and prepare technical reports concerning construction and engineering specifications, materials and equipment; prepare or approve necessary specifications for sub district development work; may act as liaison on major engineer projects and serve as project manager on major repair work; meet with government officials, consultants, contractors and the general public regarding necessary design changes; may participate in meetings with public officials and the public at large to answer questions and to advise on alternative methods to secure corrective action for relief of storm and/or sanitary drainage problems and to define District policies and responsibilities; compile information concerning location, accessibility, financial recouping, etc., relating to sewer facilities for developers, municipalities and consultants; conduct special engineering studies and investigations as required; may assist in establishing and conducting related training programs; maintain records and prepare technical reports.
Additional Responsibilities:May perform related work as required or as delegated by supervisors.
Training and Experience:Graduation from a recognized college or university with major course work in civil engineering; and four years of progressively responsible related engineering experience, including at least two years of experience in sewer plan design and review and/or construction.
Desirable Knowledge and Skills:Thorough knowledge of the principles and practices of civil engineering; thorough knowledge of District regulations and procedures applicable to sewer construction; working knowledge of spreadsheet, word processing and design software; considerable skill in reading and interpreting engineering plans and specifications; considerable skill in analyzing and integrating data; considerable skill in forming and maintaining effective working relationships; considerable skill in communicating effectively both in oral and written form; considerable skill in maintaining records and preparing technical reports.
Licensed Professional Engineer in the State of Missouri.
Must possess a valid driver's license issued by the state in which the employee resides.
