Description
Metro Water Recovery is committed to our employees and their development. Our Plant Operators of all levels go through Metro's Operator Training Program. All new hires complete their training during the day for optimal exposure to the ins and outs of plant operations. All training is paid and includes the completion of an Associate Degree in Water Quality Management for qualified trainees. Metro's Operator Training Program is designed to be completed between nine to twelve months, depending trainee's knowledge, skills, abilities. In addition to Certification Incentives, we have amazing Reclassification Opportunities that allow our Plant Operators to progress in their career.

Colorado Wastewater Operator Class A Certification* $4,000
Colorado Wastewater Operator Class B Certification* $3,000
Colorado Wastewater Operator Class C Certification* $2,000
Colorado Wastewater Operator Class D Certification* $500

This position will be filled at one of the following levels depending upon the candidate's qualifications:
Plant Operator I ($28.53 - $39.80 Hourly)
Performs skilled and unskilled work and tasks required to operate and control the performance of liquid and solids stream unit process equipment. Works under the direction of an Operations Supervisor. May be assigned work by a Plant Operator – Lead.
Plant Operator II ($33.28 - $46.43 Hourly)
Performs skilled work with the overall operation of liquid and solids stream treatment facilities. Works under the direction of an Operations Supervisor. May be assigned work by a Plant Operator – Lead.
This position would be a Day Shift position working Either a Sunday to Wednesday or Wednesday to Saturday schedule.
**Due to the nature of the Industry, day/nightshifts are not guaranteed and may be subject to change based on permit and plant needs.**
SPECIAL NOTE: Plant Operators must complete the Basic Operations Module requirements of Metro's Operator Training Program, including obtaining certifications, within specified timeframe.
Requirements
Plant Operator I
Minimum Qualifications
High school diploma or GED. Ability to interpret data trends, comprehend written technical procedures and manuals, and ability to do mathematics using decimals and fractions. Must meet minimum required Accuplacer test scores as administered by Red Rocks Community College in arithmetic, reading and writing.
Must meet one of the following requirements:
Current/Active Colorado Wastewater Operator D certification (or higher)
Current/Active Wastewater certification meeting Colorado D level through reciprocity
College coursework which meets equivalency for the Basic Operations Module requirements of Metro’s Wastewater Treatment Operations Staff Training Program (transcript review required)
Relevant Associate’s degree (or higher). Relevant fields include water quality management, biology, chemistry, environmental science, and engineering. Additional fields of study must be approved for relevancy via Metro’s review.
Plant Operator II
Minimum Qualifications
High school diploma or GED. Demonstrated ability to interpret data trends, comprehend written technical procedures and manuals, and ability to do mathematics using decimals and fractions.
State of Colorado Wastewater Operator Certification Level B, or higher. Completion of Metro’s Operator in-Training Program requirements within the specified timeframe. Demonstrated competency with the operation of the organization’s (a) liquid stream unit processes, (b) solids stream unit processes, and (c) control system.
Desired Qualifications
State of Colorado Wastewater Operator Certification Level A. Post secondary education.
