The Director of the Environmental Resources Training Center (ERTC) manages the daily operations of the self-sustained Center and serves as the fiscal officer for the center. Responsibilities include:
- Develop strategic plans for securing external grants and projects through federal and state funding agencies, water and wastewater operator organizations and academic institutions.
- Coordinate, market, and recruit for the training programs offered through the center as well as handle teaching the pre-service and in-service students at ERTC and throughout the state.
- Establish and improve the curriculum based on the needs of the water industry and set program fees.
- Act as a liaison to the School of Engineering and various state and federal agencies such as Illinois Environmental Protection Agency, the US Environmental Protection Agency, the Department of Public Health, and Missouri Department of Natural Resources, along with various universities and community colleges.
Additional day-to-day duties include managing staff, managing external grants and projects, and coordinating capital improvements of the Center, including acquiring the funding for said improvements, coordinating with engineering firms, and handles the selection and oversight of contractors.
