Job Description
O'Brien & Gere is an employee-owned engineering and project delivery company with 900 scientists, engineers, construction, and operation personnel located in 30 offices across the U.S. With a 60-year history of applying technology and innovation, O'Brien & Gere is a leader in providing total water, environmental, and capital and facilities solutions. We are currently seeking a Senior Process Technical Associate experienced in wastewater treatment projects during conceptual design phase, including unit process selection, general arrangements and P&ID's and has the skill sets to work within a multi-disciplinary team as technology leader within the team. The selected candidate will also provide process engineering support for a broad spectrum of industrial wastewater treatment processes including: biological, physical, and chemical. This position will be based out of any one of our southeastern offices including: Raleigh, Atlanta, Savannah, Richmond, Virginia Beach, Tampa, and Washington DC.

Responsibilities: • Provide technical support to sales for wastewater treatment processes and treatment plants • Extensive client interaction and proposal development in the industrial wastewater business development efforts • Interface with engineering disciplines, manufacturing, operations, and others develop and deliver a seamless design for a total wastewater treatment system • Develop and maintain client relationships in the industrial wastewater treatment market • Troubleshoot clients’ wastewater treatment issues • Manage development of process design basis, PFDs, P&IDs, process descriptions, mass and energy balances, process data sheets, preliminary/final engineering designs, and recommendations for wastewater treatment plant/process upgrades • Develop design calculations for selected processes • Develop preliminary designs (PFD/PID) for budgetary and firm proposals for wastewater plants • Be an innovator and an advocate for positive change in the organization.

Requirements
Skills and Qualifications • 10+ years experience in wastewater treatment process design with emphasis on biological treatment • BS degree required, MS Preferred, in the areas of Chemical Engineering, Environmental Engineering with an emphasis on Water, Wastewater, and/or Solids Treatment and Management • Demonstrated experience that ranges from treatability bench scale testing to wastewater treatment plant process development and design • Ability to understand client technical and business drivers and develop scope of services and corresponding solution • Strong design experience and understanding of biological wastewater treatment processes and kinetics • Ability to develop and maintain effective customer relationships. Ability to effectively communicate with customers to understand their needs and strong verbal and written communication skills • Willingness and ability to travel • Licensed Professional Engineer preferred
