WATER PLANT OPERATOR - (SKILL BASED PAY) Water Utilities Department Recruitment Code #: 300252
This position is currently FLSA Non-Exempt and eligible for overtime compensation and/or compensatory time.

ANNUAL SALARY RANGE $44,105 - $65,540* (see Skill Based Pay Explanation and Pay plan)
*The salary range maximum ($65,540) is a combination of the base salary maximum ($51,819) and the three highest paid skill blocks ($4,496 + $4,496 + $4,729). The “At Risk” Team Pay is NOT included in this calculation.
SHIFT WORK This position requires shift work, including working weekends and holidays.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Education: Requires the equivalent to completion of the twelfth grade. Course work in water treatment, chemistry, biology, or a related field is highly desirable.
Work Experience: Requires the equivalent to one year of qualifying full-time experience as a Grade II or higher plant operator performing operation duties in a water treatment facility. Candidates must have the minimum amount of work experience. Education will not substitute for the required work experience; however, related unpaid and/or volunteer work experience may be used as qualifying work experience.
Certifications, Licenses, and/or Registrations: • At the time of application, possession of Grade II water treatment certification issued by the State of Arizona or its equivalent in another jurisdiction. Please attach a copy of all Water Treatment certifications at time of application. • Possession of or ability to obtain a Grade III water treatment certificate issued by the State of Arizona within six months from date of hire. • Requires possession of a valid Arizona driver's license.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS Successful completion of probationary period is contingent upon passing an FBI background investigation. A post offer, pre-employment physical and drug screen are required for this position. If requesting veteran’s preference, the appropriate DD214 must be attached at the time of application.
